Barton is coming off his finest bowling performance in 2014-15, returning the figures of 4-20 off 10 overs against Creeks.
Now, he’s ready to fire again.
Batsmen from the competition have found it tough going against the pace bowler with his economy sitting in the mid-threes an over for the first half of the season to go alongside his nine-wicket haul.
“I’m happy with how I’m going so far, the game against Creeks last week was fun to play in despite the result,” he said.
“We got close.”
Looking to this weekend, Barton said their previous outing with Glendon was a match they really should’ve won, so they need to square the ledger.
The two siblings – Barton, 18, and Abe, 16 – have been making appearances in PCH’s senior team for almost two years now.
The duo is part of the squad’s young contingent, with five of the players under the age of 19.
The more experience the teenagers get, the better they become.
However, the boys concede that the team could work on its batting ability.
“We’ve improved but we need all players to contribute more runs,” all-rounder Abe said.
Both agree that this year’s competition is probably one of the closest – and any side can win on its day.
Abe said PCH have set its sights on going all the way this season.
Training goes beyond the weekly team session for the brother duo, which is happy to have a hit at the cricket nets or in the backyard whenever they can.
The siblings have also played junior representative cricket for Singleton and the Hunter Valley before. They believe that experience has helped them succeed in the senior grades.
