Lt.Col. Morris who took over command of the base in December last year was extremely humbled to receive the award in this year's Australia Day honours list.
It has been a very busy time for the new commandant since taking over from Lt.Col. Marcus Constable.
Saying it was great to be back in Singleton, having previously spent time at the base including playing some tough rugby games for the army team Lt.Col. was looking forward to see latest posting.
The citation for the award reads:
For outstanding achievement as Staff Officer Grade One Global Operations Team One, Operation SLIPPER, Headquarters Joint Operations Command from January 2013 to May 2014.
Lieutenant Colonel Morris displayed selfless dedication and professional mastery in his duties as the key staff officer managing Operation SLIPPER at Headquarters Joint Operations Command. In a complex and unpredictable environment, Lieutenant Colonel Morris was regularly relied upon to provide specialist advice and staff work to deal with sensitive and urgent operational reporting and briefings. His knowledge, attention to detail and intellect earned him the highest respect from his superiors, peers and subordinates alike.
