Once again, Gerard Hayward and Amanda Dennis are organising the Singleton to Nundle Ride For Ovarian Cancer.
The idea of the ride is to raise awareness and support for ovarian cancer, which is one of the biggest killers of women, according to Ms Dennis.
“Gerard’s sister Jennifa Barnett passed away from ovarian cancer in 2010,” she said.
“The ride is held in her honour – and it’s on Saturday, February 14, and is a great way to spend Valentine’s Day.”
The event kicks off at 7am where everyone is to meet at The Happy Grillmores Cafe carpark on the highway (enter in through the gate and park around the back of the cafe).
There will be tea and coffee for sale as well as bacon and egg rolls.
Leaving at 9am to head to The Peel Inn at Nundle, the ride creates a spectacular site on the highway with more than 100 participants last year.
A gourmet barbecue takes place at Nundle and an auction, where there are some great items are up grabs.
The ride then returns to the Royal Hotel in Singleton where everyone finishes off the day with a nice cold drink and the raffle is drawn.
“Despite it raining in 2014, we still had a massive crew of supporters turn up and managed to raise more than $10,000, which is just massive for the Ovarian Cancer Foundation who receives very little government support,” Mr Hayward said.
“It’s a great day and a nice easy ride that everyone can manage whether it be beginner or advanced rider.
“We also had cars follow us up last year, so if you don’t have a bike still please come along and follow us in your car.”
The cost of the ride is $40 per person, which covers lunch and a donation.
Tickets can be purchased from Hayward Engineering in John Street or by phoning Ms Dennis on 0400 187 269.
“It would be fantastic to see another great roll up this year to help us continue to raise awareness and support for ovarian cancer,” she said.
“We have had such great support in the past and again in 2015 with the generosity of our sponsors – GB Auto’s, Ace Tyres, ProMine, Singleton Electec, Happy Grillmores, and Perram and Toohey.”
