This year the talented group is staging the beloved comic operetta Pirates of Penzance but with a modern twist.
Director Alison Doherty says it will still have that Gilbert and Sullivan feel but with more in-your-face style of humour.
“The original version was written in the 19th Century so we will be doing the more upbeat version that John English and Simon Galleghar have performed so well,” she says.
“There is a megamix at the end which is really fun.
“The musical score will obviously be played with our band rather than a full orchestra.
“I love it.
“It was my father’s favourite and he was the one who introduced me to musical theatre.”
Ms Doherty says the semi-closed auditions for the June performance will be held on Sunday at 74 George Street.
“Anyone wishing to play a lead role will need to get an audition pack from me and turn up at a particular time,” she says.
“However, if you only wish to be in the chorus, just pop in anytime and fill out a cast profile.”
To pick up a pack phone her on 0417 262 133 and auditions times are: 10am Pirate King, 10.30am Frederick , 11am Mabel, 11.30am Ruth, 1pm Major General, 1.30pm Police Sergeant, 2pm Daughters and recalls, if needed, at 3pm.
