It was a very relaxed and social atmosphere over two games of triples with a mixture of regular bowlers and first time bowlers on the green.
In watching some of the “novice” players they have the potential to be good bowlers, maybe we just have to prise the fishing rod out of their hands.
There were even comments of “marvellous bowling” and “good line and length” and for a moment I though the 12th Man was commentating on the cricket and not on the bowls being delivered.
After such an enjoyable day, the winners on a countback went to John Cann, Don Ramsey and Radar. The runners up went to Matt Wykes, Gwen Lambkin and Bruce Taylor while third place went to Barry Chalker, Ian Rose and Wayne Sinclair.
Thursday afternoon’s men’s jackpot bowls welcomed another top field with plenty of bowlers getting practice in ahead of club championships and the pennant season.
The winners for the day went to the pairs combination of Peter Stuart and Gordon Oliver while the runners up went to R. Scott, T. Standing and R. Lambkin.
Sunday’s cock ó walk singles resumed with current titleholder Wayne Sinclair taking on Ian Rose in what turned out to be an entertaining game.
The scores were even throughout right up to 16-15 until Ian surged ahead to take the crown 21-16. His next opponent will be Fred Sibley (marker W. Sinclair).
Although our mixed bronze club challenge side won the state title last December, the official photo has just been released by the bowls association.
