“It’s a social game with a more relaxed approach,” club president Craig Mawhiney said.
“A lot of our members find it a fun way to keep healthy and we have a broad age group of both men and women.”
The club has been around for more than two decades and has help the community, by donating between $500 and $1000 to a local person or charity in need every year.
The competition, played over both summer and winter, is hosted at Rugby Park on Howe Street from 6pm onwards with modified rules such as dummy half being able to score.
Mixed or non-mixed seven-a-side teams play two 25-minute halves with the games normally finished before 8pm.
Duty sides are assigned to each game to referee.
The finals series is broken into two pools, so teams are more evenly matched at the pointy end of the season.
Registration costs $40 per person and that covers cost of running the tournament, prizemoney, and two family day barbecues during the season.
New team nominations are still being taken but there is a cut-off on February 4.
If you’re interested in registering, you can nominate your team at the club’s annual general meeting at the Singleton Rugby Club at 6.30pm.
The club traditionally breaks for public holidays and the festive season.
The Singleton Rugby Club’s facilities are available to the over-30’s players after their games are finished.
