They are joining forces with Majestic Cinemas to target women at the much-anticipated event on Thursday, February 12.

Every February, the local pharmacy supports Ovarian Cancer Australia’s (OCA) month-long campaign to highlight the symptoms.

These include abdominal or pelvic pain, increased abdominal size or persistent bloating, needing to urinate often or urgently and feeling full after eating a small amount.

Unfortunately, it can be difficult to diagnose ovarian cancer because the symptoms are ones that many women will have from time to time, and they are often symptoms of less serious and more common health problems.

Ms Vaughan says the partnership with Majestic Cinemas has made organising the annual fundraiser easier.

“They take care of all the advertising and we can concentrate on promoting awareness as well as fundraising,” she says. 

“It has worked out well – I rang them about hosting a Girls Night Out and they were looking for a charity to promote at the premiere of Fifty Shades of Grey.

“It is the perfect audience.

“Many of their regulars have already bought tickets and we are expecting about 200 women to attend.

“I have been chasing up some great prizes for the night like overnight stays at some vineyards, day spa vouchers and Jazz in the Vines tickets.”

Chemmart will also host a morning tea at the pharmacy the next day, Jodie says.
