Logan Ellis to represent NSW in touch

SINGLETON Heights Public School’s Logan Ellis has been selected to play for New South Wales in the national primary schools touch football championships in October.

The year 6 student will travel with his new teammates to Brisbane for his first national level competition after impressing as captain of the Hunter Regional team in August.

Logan said he was excited about playing his favourite sport at next month’s one week competition.

He has been consistent in reaching the state level over the past couple of years and has been rewarded for his good work as a play maker in the middle of the field, where he sets his team mates up with plenty of tries.

The New South Wales team will have team training sessions soon to let the players get to know each other and find out how they play before facing the nation’s best.

“Queensland is a good team and has been winning the competition over the past couple years and will be the team to beat but I’m confident the team will go well,” Logan said.

Touch football skills run in the family for Logan whose brother Daniel has also made it to national level for touch in the past.

Logan said some of his skills have been honed in the backyard contests with his brother.
