Corey O'Connor posts another win in golf

LAST Saturday’s golf tournament at the Singleton Golf Club was an Individual Par event.

The windy conditions, while not as ferocious as last weekend, still managed to have a damaging affect on the scoring.

Last week’s A grade winner Corey O’Connor continued his impressive come back form to post yet another win this time with a score of +1.

Fergus Hay came in a close second with a square card after an excellent back nine that rescued his score card.

Col Curnow kept his great form from the District championships going with a win in B grade.

His winning score was also +1, with his medical woes now behind him, Col is readying himself for an assault on the Club Championships later in the year.

Runner up to Col was early morning starter Henry Wilson one shot behind.

C grade needed a count back to find their winner.

Glen Brown was eventually declared the winner from Trevor Pearce. Both players returned the day’s equal best scores of +2.

Congratulations to visitor Doreen Dewar for winning the ladies division with an awesome +5.

Doreen played with her son Drew and kicked his proverbial butt!

This Saturday’s competition is the September Monthly Mug proudly sponsored by ESCO.

Club member and ESCO representative Darren Frazer will be on hand to meet and greet all players and has put on a massive smorgasbord of prizes valued in excess of a thousand dollars.

This event promises to be one of the year’s best events and members are encouraged to attend.

There are limited vacancies on the time sheet.

The Sunday junior golf competition will be played this week with an 8:30 hit off.

All juniors wanting to play should be at the golf club ready to hit off at 8:15am.

This year’s Lancaster Holden Scramble on Sunday September the 16th is almost filled to capacity.

Because the competition is run under PGA guide lines, members are asked to check that all the team players are current financial members of the Club and meet the handicap requirements laid down by the tournament committee. Any breach of these rules will attract a mandatory disqualification.
