For the first time in a decade, organisers are departing the traditional venue, Singleton Showground, and setting up base at Pirtek Park.
A later date and newcomers on the committee add an extra element to the popular Cancer Council fundraiser.
“We’re hoping the 10th anniversary of Relay for Life in town will attract more people,” Amy Upcroft said.
“It’s exciting to have a new location too; they’ve been very accommodating.
“In 2015, we’re hosting the event on the weekend of October 24 and 25, from 4pm to 8am.
“It won’t clash with too many other things, like previous years, so that should make it more manageable for local residents.”
To commemorate the 10-year landmark, the committee is adopting a party theme, complete with kids’ entertainment.
“We’ll also have performances by school children and special guests,” Mrs Upcroft said.
“However, there are still many things to be planned.
“We’ve got a few fundraisers in the pipeline too, including a Girls Night In at Majestic Cinemas Singleton.
“They’re screening Pitch Perfect 2 on May 7 from 6.30pm.
“We’ll host a barbecue breakfast for Parkrun participants on May 30, as well as a trivia night in August.
“Singleton Relay for Life raised $75,000 in 2014 – thanks to more than 30 teams – and we’re trying to match that total again this year.
“It would be nice to reach for the stars and, maybe, hit the $100,000 mark.”
The committee’s next meeting is set down for Tuesday, April 21, at the Cancer Council office in Singleton from 6.30pm.
Anyone interested in lending a hand is welcome to attend.
