And, as a result of that sentiment, the people of Dungog will benefit from the big-heartedness of King Street Public School.
After last week’s super storm left a trail of disaster in the Hunter, local staff and students took up a collection of much-needed items for the families of Dungog Public School.
“It started off with a shoe drive,” King Street’s community liaison officer Cindy Judge said.
“It then expanded from there.
“We’ve now received undies, linen, adult clothing – everything from toys to towels, pillows to nappies.
“People have been happy to help out; I guess everyone’s been touched by what happened.
“Many parents contacted the school asking ‘is there anything we can do?’
“The response has been overwhelming.
“One car load already delivered goods and another three went Thursday afternoon.
“They’ll be handed out over the weekend.
“We’d just like to thank everyone.”
