Before a big crowd at the Civic Centre, the local real estate agent was humbled to accept the honour, stating “I’d love to thank all my staff and family”.
“I’m totally surprised by this,” he told The Argus.
“This is for my mum and dad, who helped set me up.
“Unfortunately, my father Mick died in January, so this award – Most Outstanding Business – means a lot to me.”
It was a triple celebration for Peter Dunn Real Estate, who also picked up Excellence in Customer Service <20 FTE (full-time employees).
And, for good measure, Joy Atfield also shared the Employee of the Year/Pride of Workmanship plaudit with Kathryn Gibney from Airspeed Aviation.
Singleton Business Chamber president Ryan Fitzpatrick praised the efforts of Mr Dunn.
“While I’d like to congratulate all the finalists, Peter is a very deserving winner,” he said.
“He not only does a lot for business in town but Singleton as a whole.
“Peter was involved in the inaugural Hunter Coal Festival; he supports the rugby club and many other organisations.”
Tim Gore, from Gore Electrical & Data, was the other multiple award-winner on the evening.
He secured Young Business Executive (18-35) and Excellence in Small Business <20 FTE.
“I’m thrilled,” Mr Gore said.
“There are so many people who have helped along the way – my wife Kate, Amy and Pamela, Simon, Josh, Correy, Darren, Oliver, Ben, Taryn and all the ex-staff of Gore Electrical, my parents and kids, customers, suppliers and anyone else I may have forgotten.
“Thank you so much to Ryan, Gill and the chamber for all the hard work that goes on behind the scenes.”
The Outstanding Business Leader (36+) went to Trish Sellars from Trish Sellars Cleaning & Support Services.
OAS Technology walked away with Excellence in Innovation and Employer of Choice went to Heights Pet Hospital.
The Wynyard Street General Store was a popular recipient of Owner/Operator Business Excellence <5 FTE.
