With 12 players positioned within five strokes of the leader, tomorrow’s second round promises to be very tense.
The Singleton Golf Course is in great condition at the moment and a large field is anticipated.
The day’s best score, a nett of 65, came from Alan Burns and he was awarded the C grade winner’s prize for his efforts.
This was easily Burns’ best competition round and he may have found the form to win his first major club trophy.
Keg Erdmann made one of his rare appearances at the presentation rostrum for his runner-up score of 66.
This was a very solid score from a very solid bloke.
Two B grade scores of 66 were separated by a countback to determine the winner.
Tony Rock was victorious, beating early morning starter Ken Simpson.
A grader Fergus Hay continued his outstanding run of top scores.
A nett 67 had him declared the A grade winner by two strokes from Brad Kelly.
Rock’s nett of 31 took out the weekly Secret 9 competition.
The next three places were secured by Alan Burns (32), Wayne Orr (33) and Adam Egas (33).
Junior golf tees off from 9am this Sunday. The cost is only $5 per child.
