Mr Parsons is the current librarian at St Catherine’s and he obtained a copy of a 16mm 20-minute film depicting scenes of the college probably taken more than 50 years ago.
“We think the film was shot either late 1950s or early 1960s – that was when it was still an all-girls school and also had boarders,” he said.
“It shows mostly the boarders in the college and it captures that period in the life of the school.”
Mr Parsons would like to know who took the film and if anyone knows who the “stars” are in the various college life scenes.
“I have been told it might have been taken by a pharmacist, which may be right, because they had the technology and money to undertake the work,” he said.
“Also in the long run, if we can get some more information about the film we can add a commentary to scenes which will be good to help preserve the history of the not only the film but the college.”
Anyone who can assist with information is asked to contact Robert Parson at St Catherine’s Catholic College on 6578 9600.
