The 2015 Singleton Festival is on from July 3 to 26 and celebrates everything art, music, food and wine in the Singleton community.
The festival attracts performers, artist and patrons from Singleton, the broader Hunter region and from around NSW.
Highlights of this year’s festival include the Big Weekend at Singleton Showground on July 11 featuring the great musical talents of the Newcastle Army Band.
There will be market stalls, wine tasting and a busking competition for adults and kids as well as activities to keep the children amused.
GJ’s by the Lake will set up their Laser Tag game within the showground, which is one activity that is sure to be as much fun to watch as it is to play.
A free shuttle bus will also run from Bathurst Street to the Australian Army Military Museum where entry to the museum on the day is at a reduced price of $5 for adults and $2 for children.
The bus will also shuttle passengers to Singleton Historic Museum where entry on both Saturday and Sunday will be free as part of the Singleton Festival.
Also on July 11, The NAA Tearooms will be the venue for ‘A Conversation’ being conducted by Singleton Writers Group.
This will take the form of timed readings from a story, prose, poetry or a synopsis from a published book they have for sale on the day.
The following weekend will see the focus on Singleton’s civic precinct where the Rotary Club of Singleton on Hunter will host the Singleton Art Prize at the Civic Centre.
The prize opens on July 17 with winners announced at 8pm that night.
This exhibition is then open from July 18 to 21 from 10am to 6pm.
Nearby, at Sisters of Mercy Convent, visitors can view the Australian Sculptor Hunter Region Exhibition from July 17 to 19.
Meanwhile in the Sisters of Mercy Chapel, you can take part in the Joy of Singing Choral Workshop or be in the audience of the concert during the afternoon.
There will also be a walkway between the two venues consisting of a diverse array of artists at work with items for sale.
Added to this are all the events in between, that range from a month of activities at local vineyards, an afternoon of bush poetry and the Artists Shootout that will see artists either side of John Street under the pump to produce an artwork within two hours.
The Singleton Festival, formerly the Singleton Arts Festival, began through the collaboration of The Rotary Club of Singleton on Hunter, Sacred Spaces at the Sisters of Mercy Convent, and the Singleton Arts and Music Society (SAMS).
