The future of the Upper Hunter operations, in John Street, has been further assured following a $20,000 top-up donation from The Bloomfield Group, which operates the local Rix’s Creek Coal Mine.

The funds are in addition to $25,000 raised at the Rix’s Creek Invitational Golf Day in March.

To show its appreciation, Cancer Council NSW hosted a morning tea this month to thank The Bloomfield Group.

“We have a fantastic partnership with them,” Singleton community relations coordinator Glen Parsons said.

“So, I’d like to acknowledge the company’s great work.

“Rix’s Creek, via the golf day, has raised in excess of $250,000 since 2005.

“To have a group so focused on supporting us is outstanding.

“But, it’s not a one-off.

“The Bloomfield Group’s ongoing commitment, courtesy of the $20,000 donation, will offset the costs at this office.

“It’s also allowed us to sign another three-year lease, which is great news for the local community.

“For that, I can’t thank them enough.

“Overall, The Bloomfield Group has donated more than $550,000 to Cancer Council NSW.

“And, I hope they’re with us for many years to come.”

A humble managing director John Richards said The Bloomfield Group was delighted to support the organisation.

“I think everyone, at one point or another, has been impacted by cancer,” he added.

“We’re happy to assist in any way and will continue to do so.”

Later in the day, Coal & Allied presented a cheque for $10,000 to the members of Singleton Relay for Life.
