It wasn’t all hard work for the locals at Nowlan Park, Gardiner Circuit.
There was a bit of fun thrown in too.
“The Singleton community celebrated National Tree Day on Sunday by planting 1600 trees at Nowlan Park with the help of more than 70 community members including local Girl Guides, Scouts and Glencore Ravensworth Open Cut employees and their children,” a Singleton Council spokesperson said.
“Unfortunately, National Tree Day for the schools had to be postponed this year, due to weather conditions, but we have set aside 400 trees for a later date.
“Singleton Council thanks everyone who came along to help on the day.
“This includes mayor John Martin, the Tidy Towns committee and Singleton Lioness Club who served up a wonderful lunch for everyone.
“A special thank you goes to Glencore Ravensworth Open Cut for once again sponsoring this event.
“National Tree Day is a really important event for our community and we would not be able to do it without their support.”
