And, a local business has adopted that adage for the next month.
Majestic Cinemas Singleton is currently collecting donations of hygiene and sanitary products up until the start of the school holidays, on September 16, for those less fortunate in our community.
Manager Michelle Weir said the idea was flagged after a staff member (Liz Scroope) watched the television program, The Project.
“In the past month the issue has been raised in the media that those without permanent housing have limited or no access to the hygiene and sanitary products that we take for granted in our everyday lives,” she said.
“So, we looked into it.
“We work with The Salvation Army a fair bit in Singleton – and they said they could do with the items.
“We have a donation tub in our foyer where community members can donate these products and be rewarded with a special discounted movie voucher as a thank you.
“We’ve already filled three boxes, and hope to fill as many more as we can before the school holidays.
“All donations will be given to the Singleton Salvation Army to help local people.”
