In a thrilling decider, Glendon upset the two-time premiers by 21 runs.
And, on Saturday, the current champions return to the scene of the crime, Howe Park, to begin their premiership defence against PCH.
“It [the grand final] was a good game to be a part of,” Glendon skipper Anthony Bailey admitted.
“But, I don’t think there is any more pressure on us.
“I’m quietly confident we can go back-to-back.
“We still have the nucleus of the team, however we’ve lost our ‘keeper Pat Dennis.
“On the plus side, Zane Nelson is returning and the club has a good crop of juniors coming through.”
In the other first grade encounter this weekend, Valley opens its campaign against JPC at Cook 3 while runners up Creeks enjoy a bye.
“I think 2015-16 will be similar to last season – and that any team can win on its day,” Bailey said.
“Creeks are always up there and PCH has got a few talented youngsters.
“Both will definitely be stronger.
“So, we’ll need to be on our game every week.
“I’m expecting Cael Smith and Max Hillier to step up this year; they gained a lot of experience last season.
“At the moment, club-wise, we’re struggling for numbers.
“Our focus will be on getting three sides on the park over the first month.”
In second grade on Saturday, from 1pm, Valley locks horns with JPC at Cook 4, PCH and Glendon meet at Cook 1, Denman goes into battle with Creeks at Denman No 1 and Souths have the bye.
Third grade features Valley and JPC at Cook 5, PCH lines up against Glendon at Cook 2, Denman faces Creeks at Denman No 2 and Muswellbrook RSL has the weekend off.
