DRIVING past Singleton Showground in the days leading up to the annual show conjures up excitment within the hearts of the town’s young folk.
Today is traditionally schools day when children can enter the showground with their schools free of charge to check out the animal exhibits and the pavillion displays.
But it is always sideshow alley and the variety of showbags that gets the utmost attention of children.
While parents will part with a few dollars in this show section, there is a full program of events including puppet shows, the animal nursery and back-to-back ringside entertainment that won’t cost a cent once through the gate.
Judging in the cooking and craft section kept volunteers busy yesterday with stewards impressed with this year’s entries.
