Singleton Netball

THE 2012 season came to a close on Saturday with grandfinals in all divisions.  Congratulations to all,  games were highly contested.   

As every year there were a few surprises.  Winners in division 1 were Total Fire who defeated Tenacious.  Orica, who remained undefeated in division 2 all season, prevailed with a win over Fusion.  Sargents earned a hard fought, come from behind win to defeat Aliens in division 3 and in division 4 Valley Girls were victorious over Rambos.  An upset in division 5 saw Enforcers defeat Chemmart Cruisers while a valiant Charmed were runners up to winners Austin Engineering Lollipops in division 6.  OMG took the honours in divison 7 over SGT Stars and Ice Girls took a 1 point victory against Ultra Violets in the division 8 grand final.

The annual awards presentation was held after the grand finals.  The nominees for the Simone Wadsworth memorial award were 12 years -Montanna Crebert,  13 years - Ruby Haines, 14 years - Breeana Welsh, 15 years - Lily Haines, 17 years - Jade Cupitt.  The winner was Breeanna Welsh.

Alexis Urpeth was a club service award recipient.  

Pocket Rockets received the Jenny Knight team encouragement award and Sargents took the team sportsmanship award.Delaney Alston was the umpire of the year and Shellie Walker was presented with the coach of the year award.  

Individual sportsmanship award was won by Claire McHattie,  junior club person is Caitlin Paul and the 2012 senior club person is Mark Rix.  

The committee would like to thank Mrs Peg Moore, Mrs Jenny Knight and Mrs Jenelle Edwards for attending the presentation.  

There are so many people who assisted throughout the season, and too many to name individually, so please accept this thankyou from the committee. 

There will be quite a few changes taking place next season that all teams and players  will benefit from them.  

The website will have information posted regularly and the email account is accessed by committee members daily.  Please contact us at any time for information  and there is  have a mailing list if you wish to add your name to it.

There will be compulsory state age training clinics on September 20 and October 18.  All details can be found on the website.  

On the  October 20, 21 there will be Netball Australia accredited coaching courses.  

If you are a registered member of our association the course fee will be covered by sponsorship from Xtrata Coal and the association thanks Xtrata for this support.

  These courses cost $75 and $120 respectfully for non association members.

Singleton Netball is holding a development course this will be free thanks to the generous support of Xtrata. 

Interested coaches will need to complete the on line umpire course and pay $50 deposit.

The deposit will be refunded upon attendance at the course. The course is on the  October 21 at 8.45am.

Prerequisite are Enrolment Pre-requisites: Minimum age of entry (15 years) 

  Must be a member of Netball NSW,  Course Pre-requisite: Completion of NA Foundation Coaching Course,  Current Section 1 Umpire Theory Examination pass (70% above) 

  Course Requirements: Minimum of 10 participants, maximum of 15 participants.
