Singleton Women with Cancer Support Group.

JUNIOR Rugby League‘s Pink Saturday held earlier this year raised $5000 for the Singleton Women with Cancer Support Group.

The cheque was presented to the group last week at the groups meeting and will fund much of their support work for the next year.

During pink Saturday teams from the under 8s, 11s, 14s, 15s and 16s played in special pink jerseys that were sold and auctioned off, along with other money raisers like raffles.

“The $5000 will go a long way to help all our efforts, it will pay for the huge amount of petrol that is used by our drivers who take people to hospitals in Maitland and Newcastle,” Singleton Women with Cancer Support Group President Lyn Paix said.

The group is made of dedicated volunteer members who help women and men with cancer with practical day to day support free of charge.

It can range depending on their needs it could be journeys to the hospital, help with lawn mowing or clothes washing.

The support group is looking for members and more drivers if you think you could help the group contact Mrs Paix on 6571 1737.
