And, the Singleton Clay Target Club member is on track to achieve that goal following a couple of successful months in the competition arena.
Pearce, who will attend Bond University next year, picked up fourth – with the Australian women’s team – at the ISSF Junior World Cup in Suhl, Germany.
The group amassed 185 points, narrowly beaten out by the second and third-placed nations, who both shot 186.
“I’ll admit, it was stressful but exciting,” she said.
“I got to meet some incredible people.
“The pressure was insane; however, the experience will hold me in good stead in the future.
“I’ll approach competitions so differently now.
“I’ve learned a lot.”
Recently, she attended the NSW State ISSF Olympic Trap Championships at Newcastle.
There, Pearce secured a spot on the NSW State Ladies team to contest the National ISSF Olympic Trap Championships in Brisbane in January next year.
“It’s my third time in the state team,” she said.
“But, I always like to represent NSW.
“I’m hoping we’ll place at that event – I’ll need to hold up my end of the bargain though.
“I’ll be up against a number of Olympians, so it should be a big shoot.
“It’s a good way to gauge how I’m shooting, too.”
With the Olympic Games taking place in Rio de Janeiro next year, major competition will take a backseat.
But, Pearce is determined not to let that hinder her performances.
“I’ll be out to maintain my form and intensity,” she said.
“The 2018 Commonwealth Games is still something to aim for.
“That will be held on the Gold Coast, so that’s extra incentive for me – especially now that I’m moving there for uni.”
