THE second Sunday of November is always scheduled as a big day of shooting when three of the Singleton Clay Target Club founders are honoured.

Three events are shot in their memory - Event 1, the Kevin Ringland 25 Targets Handicap; Event 2, the WI Clarke 45 Mixed Targets shot as 15 double barrel, 15 single barrel and 15 pointscore and, lastly, the Jumbo Evans team event of 25 targets pointscore shot off 18 metres made up of five shooters per team from all clubs.
A total of 34 shooters nominated and they came from all clubs in the valley.
Unfortunately, the weather was cold and overcast.
The results were:
Event 1 - Kevin Ringland 25 Targets Handicap: 1st Beau Brown 31/31, 2nd John Douglas 30/31, 3rd Dom Frasca 27/29, 4th Ashley Boonstoppel 26/29, 5th Paul Jackson 25/28, 6th Ray Warran 44/47
Event 2 – WI Clarke 45 Mixed Targets:
AA grade - 1st Travis Edwards 74/75, 2nd Cesar Diaz 73/75
A grade - 1st and overall winner Romano Bacci 74/75, 2nd Paul Jackson 72/75
B grade: 1st Darren Boonstoppel 72/75, 2nd Robert Marko 66/75
C grade: 1st Phil Christie 63/75, 2nd Guiliano Mazzantini 61/75
Event 3 – Jumbo Evans team event:
1st Cessnock score 346/375 – Beau Brown, John Douglas, Travis Edwards, Bob Warran, Paul O’Neill
2nd Newcastle score 334/375 – Cesar Diaz, Robert Marko, Romano Bacci, Guiliano Mazzantini, Dom Frasca
Overall High Gun winner for the day was Romano Bacci on 170/175.
Singleton Clay Target Club president Denis Pearce said prizes and trophies were presented to the winners and placegetters.
“It was a great day, but a lot of people helped out,” he said.
“A big thank you to Anne, Narelle, Tracey and Ashley for the great food and service in the kitchen and to Julie and Denis looking after the office.
“Also to Lionel and Jack for keeping the traps filled and working.
“The next shoot will be our Xmas meeting on Sunday, December 13, when good prizes and novelty events will be offered.”

Practice has changed for daylight savings and is on every Wednesday from 3pm until dark.
