And, she’s in a good position to do so – after averaging 7.12 with the ball this season, and snaring 4-15 from seven overs against Campbelltown-Camden in the Sydney competition.
The talented leg spinner and middle-order batsman will take the field for NSW/ACT against Tasmania from Wednesday.
The carnival, which sees the girls play each of the state’s best youngsters in a round-robin format, wraps up on December 2.
“We’ve got about eight games, so there’s not much time for sight-seeing with only one rest day during the tournament,” Knight said.
“But, I’m expecting it’ll be a tough championship.
“The conditions should suit me though.
“I’m really looking forward to it.”
The St Catherine’s Catholic College Year 8 student represents JPC under-16s in the local Friday night competition and the Flamingos in the Maitland junior format on Saturdays.
The first all-female team in the Hunter Valley, the Flamingos, was formed by Singleton’s Maisy Gibson.
On top of that, Knight also plays for the St George-Sutherland Slayers in the under-17 women’s age group in Sydney on Sundays.
Off-season, she was selected in the Central North Cricket NSW Academy 8 sessions in Tamworth from June through to September.
The teenager then played at the Country Championships in Raymond Terrace on the October long weekend for Central North, who finished runner-up to the City 15s.
From there, she took the field for Country at the State Challenge Carnival.
Knight ended the tournament with a bowling average of 14.33, an economy rate of 3.07, with a best effort of 3-17 off eight overs.
This gained her a position in the NSW/ACT under-15s.
Following intensive training with the squad, at Kempsey and Singleton, she spent last weekend at a two-day camp at Bankstown International Sports Park to prepare for Hobart.
“It’s the first time I’ve been selected in the side, so I’m excited about the opportunity,” Knight said.
“Afterwards, they’re picking an Australian merit team.
“I’m hopeful of securing a spot.”
