Former Better Homes and Gardens presenter Rob Palmer kept more than 50 women entertained during the once-a-year Ladies DIY Night.
The charismatic celebrity not only gave advice on subjects like renovation and sprucing up your home, but he shared a few secrets and humorous anecdotes from the popular lifestyle program.
“I love these types of events – and meeting people,” he said.
“Everyone’s been lovely, from the staff at Bunnings to the women in the audience.”
Mr Palmer started in the industry as a nine-year-old working at his dad’s company during school holidays.
From 1994-1998, he completed a carpentry apprenticeship and then travelled for 12 months, playing rugby and snowboarding.
It was while he was working as a carpenter in 2000 that Mr Palmer was approached to be a presenter on Live This!, a lifestyle program on Channel 10, which aired until 2001.
He then started on Seven’s Better Homes and Gardens and also did a stint on the network’s DIY show, House Calls To The Rescue, with Johanna Griggs.
Mr Palmer took out the 10th season of Dancing with the Stars.
The Singleton Branch of the Red Cross also took the opportunity to sell raffle tickets on Thursday to raise funds for a number of worthy causes.
