Under-16s:
THE match between Glendon/Valley and JPC was abandoned with the points shared between the teams.
Under-13s:
THE fixture between JPC Gold and Glendon was played on Monday afternoon with Glendon winning the toss and sending JPC into bat.
JPC did well to bat their full 20 overs against their strong opponents with outstanding performances from Luke Dempster (16 runs) and Heath Russell (16 not out).
JPC finished on 4-76.
Wicket-takers for Glendon were Oliver Gunn (2-5) and Conor Thornberry (1-4).
Glendon proved too strong for JPC, scoring the required runs quickly with Thomas Druery retiring not out on 25, Ethan Van Zyl unbeaten on 21 and Beau Parnell 19 not out.
On Tuesday, PCH took on Valley/Glendon.
PCH won the toss and sent their opponents into bat.
PCH did well in the field to restrict Valley/Glendon to 6-83 with great bowling from Rhys Shearer (2-5), Max Andrews (1-6) and Ewan McLoughlin (1-9).
Kieran Leslie’s bowling was outstanding (two maidens) and Jackson Bourke also claimed a wicket.
Toby Stuart did a great job as wicketkeeper and Jackson also effected a sharp run out.
Top scorers for Valley/Glendon were Luke Swinton (24), Jack Land (13 not out, including a massive six) and Aiden Bagnall (14).
PCH started the run chase solidly with top order batters Joel Mackaway and Ewan McLoughlin getting the score to 1-35 before both lost their wickets in attempting to up the run rate.
The fall of wickets brought Max Andrews and Sam Holz to the crease; and they batted intelligently and ran well between wickets.
They both kept the scoreboard ticking over with Holz finishing on 27 not out while Andrews remained five not out.
PCH reached the required target in the 17th over.
Wicket-takers for Valley/Glendon were Campbell Harris (1-5), Luke Meyn (1-1) and Jordan Kemp (1-5).
Today’s matches
IN under-16s, JPC plays PCH at either Cook 3 or 4 and the under-13’s match-ups are JPC Black
versus Valley/Glendon on Cook 5 and PCH facing JPC Gold at Civic Park.
Representative cricket
SINGLETON hosts Cessnock at Cook Park this Sunday with
matches to be played in both the under-12 and under-14 age groups.
Matches start at 10am and the canteen will be open all day.
