Triathlon exciting start to season

SINGLETON Triathlon Club has undergone a makeover.

It has a new name (formerly Hunter Valley Tri Sports Club), a new venue, new race distances and a new uniform to top it off.

If you’re looking for a challenge to kick start your spring fitness routine then this is the club for you.

First race of the season is on Sunday, October 14 and will be held in the vicinity of the Singleton gym and swim.

Club president Scott Kime is looking forward to the opportunities this new venue will provide.

“It obviously has potential as it has been chosen as one of the venues for the upcoming Hunter Valley Coal Belt Multisport Festival and we are looking forward to exploring the opportunities,” Mr Kime said.

Registrations start at 7.30am and the first competitors jumping in at 8am.

There’s a “splash’n’dash” for the littlies consisting of 100m swim, 2km bike and 250m run  for 7s to 10s, and 150m swim, 4km bike and 500m run for 11s to 13s.

The enticer is for 14s to 16s and newcomers to the sport and consists of a 200m swim, 6km bike and 2km run.

The short seniors distance is a 200m swim, 9.5km bike ride and 2km swim and the longer distance is a 500m swim, 20km bike and 4km run.

If all that sounds a bit daunting, grab a couple of friends, family or workmates and compete as a team in which you can take on one of the three legs.

The club has a race every month so you’ll have plenty of opportunity to practice throughout the season.    For more information contact club president Scott Kime on 0409 665 090.
