Ms Gray says all of our holiday works were designed to enhance student learning environments.
The long list includes:
•our exam periods are always in the middle of winter or the heat of summer so we installed industrial fans in the MPC, as well as LED lights. The MPC is now a more comfortable place for examinations, assemblies, year meetings, as well as being more environmentally friendly in terms of power used;
•some classrooms had upgrades including paint, carpet, lighting and furniture;
•high pressure cleaning to remove years of build- up on outdoor concrete around the school;
•a toilet block repainted and refurbished, including the installation of hand dryers;
•an access ramp to our office area was built,
•our front office area was repainted and is in the process of being refurbished, to provide a welcoming and professional area for parents and visitors to the school;
•the whole school technology was updated to a newer platform and all printers were replaced;
•two Laser cutters were installed in our Design, Engineering and Technology faculty, enabling cutting edge design possibilities for our students to bring their creative ideas into reality;
•the outside demountables were painted, providing a much more pleasing face to the school from the back oval;
•and the security screens on the King St side of the school were replaced, providing a safer and more aesthetically pleasing safety barrier.
She says some of the work was completed by her teaching and ancillary staff, who gave up their own time to paint some rooms and complete garden maintenance.
“We are fortunate to have a great General Assistant , who came in during the holidays to oversee and do much of the work,” Ms Gray says.
