From playing against Super 15 Rugby feeder clubs and going on safari, to cage-diving in shark alley, the young men did a lot more than just play union.
They say it was great to “hang out with their mates and see another part of the world”, with Stafford, Harris and Malloy gladly forfeiting their schoolies trip to take part in the once-in-a- lifetime experience.
However, they may tag along when Rees finishes the 2016 school year and makes the annual pilgrimage to the Gold Coast.
And, it’s sure to be a big year, for the Rugby league convert, who on the back of his recent form has been selected in the NSW Country Under 20’s team.
Not bad considering he only transitioned from league to union at the start of the 2015 season, and only received a call up for the South African tour after the Country Championships.
Whereas, Harris, Malloy and Stafford all had a chance to impress, and were selected in the touring team, at the championships.
After being selected in a 32-player squad that has been culled to 22, Rees will head to Adelaide on February 19-21 to play in the 2016 Southern States Under 20 Championships.
Malloy says that although Rees is only 17 he definitely has the skills to play at this level and has “transitioned’’ effortlessly between the two codes- the former five-eight settling comfortably into to the role of fly-half during the regular season and now at a representative level.
Full-back, Malloy is currently training hard with the reputable Sydney Club, Gordon, in the hope of one day playing professionally.
While, Harris and Stafford have started apprenticeships so they will continue to play locally.
Although half-back Stafford will join Rees and play for Maitland so they can play in a dedicated Under 19’s side.
Harris, a centre come utility, says at this stage he will continue to play with the Singleton Bulls despite the Colts competition being disbanded.
