And, this is reflected in the great results achieved in the NSW Department of Education and Training’s Best Start Kindergarten Assessments.
An assessment designed to identify each student’s literacy and numeracy skills, and understanding, when they start school.
This is the third year the program has been running, and thanks to Coal&Allied it will now operate once a week for the entire school year.
“When I first started the program it was for a term, then the next year I stretched it to two terms but with the funding it will run for the whole year,” principal, Regina Stoltenberg says.
“I began the program because there were no early childhood settings in the village.”
An area in which the dedicated educator has expertise and what sets their program apart from others.
She says it has been designed to incorporate optimum early childhood practice provided by the Early Years Learning Framework, and the teaching and learning experiences, the Department of Education requires for Kindergarten readiness.
Rio Tinto’s Hunter Valley Operations general manager Tom Lukeman says they are delighted to partner with Jerrys Plains Public School to help deliver meaningful outcomes for our local community.
“A successful community is one that provides opportunities for children of all ages to learn, develop and reach their full potential.
“The Ready4School program creates a solid foundation for children as they embark on their primary education journey, and we are pleased to be able to help ensure their future success.”
