After having a fantastic vibrant red colour, Samantha had her pony tail chopped off by hairdresser Paula Stokes in a bid to raise funds for the Leukaemia Foundation, a charity that is undeniably close to her heart.
Having had a family member recently battle with the disease, Samantha’s decision to participate and raise funds for the charity is of great importance to both her and her family.
The ambitious student received a fantastic surprise having her cousins, Finn and Korina Dwight, and Aunty, Sandra McKeowen, travel to be in attendance to watch her make the transformation.
The Student Representative Council also got on board to support the cause, running a barbeque lunch and raffles to help raise funds.
So far Samantha has raised $270 for the charity however there is still a considerable amount of money to be tallied so her ambitious aim of $560 is well in reach.
After having had long hair from a young age, her new look is proving to be a big change however Samantha is loving her new hairddo.
Samantha is a member of the school’s Student Representative Council (SRC) a body with a proud tradition of supporting worthy causes.
The SCR is perhaps best known outside of the high school for its annual Tommy’s Day fundraiser.
Held in memory of the late Tom Kirkwood a former student of Singleton High the day is a truly important date in the school’s calendar.
Monies raised on the day goes to support research into finding a cure for cancer something Tom’s family are also very passionate about.
The Kirkwood family have raised tens of thousands of dollars to fund cancer research.
There are still opportunities to donate to Samantha’s cause with money tins stationed at Coal Rock Café in Singleton Square.
Both Samantha’s family and her school are undoubtedly proud of her good will and determination.
