The Singleton PCYC is calling for teams to join their statewide Raw Challenge event to raise much needed funds for their youth and police programs.
The Raw Challenge is a 6km course featuring more than 40 obstacles and is set to take place at Doyalson, Lake Macquarie on April 2.
The exhilarating track is sure to challenge all fitness levels as participants crawl, leap, run and maneuver their way to the finish line.
Obstacles range from monkey bars to mud trenches with plenty of activities in between.
To make the fun filled event available to everyone, the Raw Challenge offers five categories to ensure participants can complete the course at their own pace.
The categories include competitive, social, inter club challenge, police and youth, as well as a modified youth course for those aged from seven to twelve.
Senior Constable Scott O’Riley says the proceeds raised by the event will be used to support the essential work done at the Singleton facility.
“All of the funds raised will stay in Singleton so the community can be at ease knowing that the money will go towards helping our local kids,” he says.
“Our programs work with young offenders and at risk kids so the facilitates provided are essential.”
Singleton PCYC manager Sarah Lenton says the funds raised are vital for the continuity of the police programs.
“The PCYC is a not for profit organisation and without our programs a lot of children would essentially fall through the gaps,” says Sarah.
If getting down and dirty at the Raw Challenge isn’t for you, there are opportunities to make a financial contribution to support the Time4Kids fundraiser and the Singleton team.
A “cell lock up” event will be held which involves spending time in mock jail cells in a bid to “do time to stop youth crime”.
A trivia night will also be held on May 20, with all proceeds going towards the Singleton PCYC programs.
Registrations for the Raw Challenge are now open, with senior tickets costing $44 and juniors, $35. The course will be held on April 2.
