They were there to make sure the clients were aware of how to be storm and flood safe in their own homes.
On Tuesday, April 12 local community engagement officer, Simone Burrows, deputy controller Tim Merrick and Hunter region community engagement officer, Amanda Hyde delivered a varied presentation.
The topics ranged from showing footage from the 1955 floods to what to do if you need to evacuate your home, and the eight storm and flood safe tips.
Miss Burrows says a variety of topics were covered and paper resources distributed.
“We had one of our three SES vehicles, and one of our two storm trailers, on hand to show them what resources we always have ready to,” she explains.
“Our aim is to make the community prepared before an event occurs – to build resilience.”
The NSW SES now has resources available online to help you become storm and flood ready – 'stormsafe.com' 'floodsafe.com', she says.
And, with storm season approaching if you have an organisation, social group, school group that would benefit from a presentation or or would like help accessing some of the resources, email Simone at simone.burrows@member.ses.nsw.gov.au
