Urban Active Health & Fitness not only claimed the Glencore-sponsored top gong but also collected the Coal Services’ Excellence in Customer Service honour.
And, the dual plaudits left Kylie and Chris Barry, as well as eight-week-old Henry, overwhelmed by the victory.
“We’d like to say a massive thank you to everyone in the Singleton community,” Mrs Barry said.
“We’re totally surprised to win this.
“We knew we were nominated in the Excellence in Customer Service category – however, we weren’t even aware of the [Most Outstanding Business] award.
“That makes it more special.”
Mr Barry said he and his wife only started the business in February last year.
“It’s amazing to win – and very humbling,” he told The Argus.
“It makes all the hard work worthwhile and validates what we’re trying to achieve.”
The Singleton Business Chamber’s President’s Award went to Munkeeskins Café while Ungooroo Aboriginal Corporation picked up the BHP Excellence in Not for Profit Organisation.
We’d like to say a massive thank you to everyone in the Singleton community.
