However, it has paid off for the diminutive dirt bike champion as his reputation continues to grow.
His standout performances saw the rising star pick up a sponsor in 2015 – local Husqvarna dealer Chris Watson Motorcycles.
And, attracted the attention of two-time MotoGP World Champion Casey Stoner’s Dad, Colin.
This lead to a quick introduction to road racing, and a trip to qualifying events in Spain and Malaysia.
He recently completed a double at NSW Dirt Track titles in Kurri Kurri, winning the 13yrs – U/16yrs 200-250 class, and the 125/250 combined class.
Bringing his personal tally to six NSW titles, and seven Australian championships.

“But now I don’t get as nervous before a race,” he says.
Although the likable lad admits to having many sleepless nights.
“I often wake up to see Billy’s face peering down at me at about three or four in the morning,” his Dad confirms.
His next challenge is Australian Titles in August at Gunnedah.
