A truck accident in the Upper Hunter near Scone has resulted in the death of 21 head of cattle.

At about 9.30am this morning a cattle truck carrying 66 young cattle was heading west along Bunnan Road in the Upper Hunter.
Approximately 20km west of Scone the truck has negotiated a right hand bend. During this time the driver lost control of the truck and the truck has tipped over.
Hunter Valley Local Area Command report approximately 21 cattle are now deceased out of the 66. Some died on impact and others were destroyed at the scene.
The male driver aged about 44 was taken by Ambulance to hospital suffering minor injuries.
Council have taken the deceased animals and the road is open to traffic.
