Voting was the reason they came to Singleton's polling booths but catching up with friends and enjoying homemade cakes and a sausage sandwich made the outing all the more enjoyable for electors and their families.

Perfect winter conditions meant voters could sit in the sunshine and much happily munch away on their BBQ selection of choice.
Country voting provides a wonderful atmosphere and a chance for many school P&C and hall committees to use the day as a fundraiser.
Sitting member for Hunter Joel Fitzgibbon, while visiting Singleton, said he expects the election to be very close.
“I really think its going to be tight,” he said.
His Nationals opponent in her first federal campaign Ruth Rogers said she was looking forward to the results and wanted to thank all her supporters and family.
“Its been great to be involved in the election and I want to wish all the candidates for Hunter all the best,” she said.
