Students were able to learn about a variety of career paths and hear from professions from a range of industries.
New school Principal Tim Shields gave the students from the Christian College, St Catherines and Singleton High School an important talk on how vital it is to embrace opportunities like this as they can open many doors for students in the future.
“It is a wonderful opportunity for students to learn about a range of career paths as well as gain professional contacts for future employment,” he says.
“It’s also great to see the Singleton schools coming together and creating a community spirit.”
Students were able to pick the minds of professionals from fields such as real estate, engineering, psychology, journalism and aviation, which according to Year 12 student Aidan Halton proved to be a popular pick.
“I have been to many careers’ days but this one is very informative and has a great variety of options from tafe, to trade to university,” Aidan says.
“I haven’t seen aviation on offer before, so it’s really awesome to hear about that career path too.”
Event organiser and Christian College teacher Allan Perry says the day proved to be another success with over 200 students in attendance.
“The day provides a great overview for students and exposes them to the many options they have after school,” Mr Perry says.
“We aim to get as much variety as we can in order to benefit the students.”
With the HSC fast approaching, careers days such as these are incredibly important in showing students the world of opportunity that awaits them after graduation.
