She needed the perfect location to host their upcoming ‘Garden Party’ and had been advised the property would fit the bill.
However, Kay soon realised there was no reason to be nervous as the generous owners of the historic property have gone out of their way to assist her.
Belinda and Bryan Stevenson, have owned the 100-year-old property since 2010.
At the time it was not even on the market but Belinda fell in love with the charming homestead as it reminded her of growing up in Gresford.
Bryan says they were running a business in Singleton, and Newcastle, and were looking for a local residence to stay in a couple of days a week.
He was thinking of buying a house to renovate and selling it a few years down the track. Instead they ended up with a 70 acre property and a five-bedroom home that once belonged to the Roberts Family.
The original owner, George Roberts actually purchased 4000 acres back in 1906 and the federation style home was completed in September 1915.
And, they have not had to do too much renovating. Although a tour of the immaculate, and inviting, residence reveals a modern kitchen, and bathroom.
Along with gorgeous polished floor boards which the couple are also responsible for.
However, the tasteful modifications blend well with the homes original features and old world charm.
The garden party will start at 10am and finish at 4pm.
Guests are encouraged to bring a blanket, sit back and be entertained by the talented Kate White Flannery, and some of her students.
Devonshire tea will be served from the quirky log portico area complete with stunning views, passionfruit vines and a water feature.
They will also be having a sausage sizzle running and cold drinks will be available.
At only $5 a ticket or $10 a family it is great value for a fun day out and your chance to explore one of Singleton’s historic homes.
The committee are also looking to run a courtesy bus to and from the Miranne Road property and if you are interested in securing a seat please call Kay on 0417 424 482.
She is also on the look out for some outdoor games. “If anyone has coits, bocce balls, or any other games, we would really appreciate it if we could use them for the afternoon,” she says.
The small group would also welcome any extra help on the day. All funds raised will go toward maintaining their special care rooms at the Singleton Hospital.
