Singleton's next mayor is likely to be decided on preferences with Sue Moore leading current mayor John Martin by 400 votes at close of counting last night.

With just under half the 16,000 votes counted in both the mayoral and councillor elections the tightest contest was for the position of mayor.
At this stage it looks like a re-run of the 2012 election where it came down to the distribution of preferences to decide the position.
Should voting continue on its current trend Tony McNamara will come third and then his preferences will be distributed to Moore and Martin to decide the contest.
In the councillor’s election Tony McNamara was in first position followed by Danny Thompson and newcomer Tony Jarrett.
Mr Jarrett the former principal of Singleton High School stood as a Labor candidate.
Further down the counting it was John Martin, Val Scott, Godfrey Adamthwaite, Sue George Sarah Lukeman and Hollee Jenkins.
Currently in the last two positions were Tim Harrison and Chris Giles.
