They had planned on holding the annual shin dig at the Singleton Showground but due to the extreme heat they had to relocate.
However, they still had fun, and found a way to cool off – a water fight.
The Argus arrived just in time to witness all the action, just before the snags were ready for lunch.
Volunteers from the Singleton Lions Club were manning the barbecue,and Vicki Griffin from Bunnings was on hand to tattoo party goers.
Witmore CEO Steve Wellard says the international day celebrates the achievements of people with disability and recognises their worth to the broader community.
“When I started working here about six years ago we had about 40 clients and participants,” he explains.
“Today we have around 80 who they are assisting in achieving both their personal and professional goals.”
The International Day of People with Disability is officially held on December 3 each year.
The special day aims to increase public awareness, understanding and acceptance of people with disability and celebrate the achievements and contributions of people with disability.
