Clear skies are good news for vignerons although perhaps the temperatures could be a little cooler with the heatwave playing havoc with sugar levels.
At Tintilla Estate the semilion grapes were hand picked last week and the baume was fantastic said winemaker James Lusby.
“We were over the moon when they came off at 10.6,” he said.
Their Shiraz was mechanically harvested and once again the baume was fine despite the hot conditions.
O’Connor Harvesting used a self propelled New Holland Braud from France that included a de-stalker and bin capacity to hold nearly one tonne of grapes on the machine.
“Having that storage capacity on the harvester meant we only needed one tractor driver to cart the grapes to the winery for processing,” said James.
