The Rotary Club of Singleton Sunrise is hosting the annual event in conjunction with the Singleton Business Chamber on Wednesday, February 22 at the York Street Diggers Club.
Mr Mowbray’s speech will focus on “improving employee engagement and culture”.
The inspirational speaker has worked with a wide range of organisations across Australia to build leadership capability though speaking, training and consulting.
“Research shows that in Australia only 24% of employees are engaged in their work - that is, their care factor is high. They are motivated and enthusiastic,” he explains.
“Even more worrying than that is the proportion that are 'actively disengaged'. These are the people who have care factor zero. They number 16%.In the middle at the 60% that are classified as 'not engaged.”
“My message is about the responsibility of leaders to create an environment we people feel connected to their work, they are passionate and enthusiastic.”
He recommends five things to achieve 'Care Factor 100'.
This is where 100% of employees are 100% engaged. They are:
- Make your expectations of performance crystal clear;
- Give regular and honest feedback on performance;
- Share the vision, purpose, priorities and action plans of the organisation with everyone;
- Give people opportunities to grow and develop;
- Create an environment where people feel like they belong.
