To commemorate the special occasion the Singleton Old Boys Club is organising a ball to be held at the Civic Centre on Saturday March 18.
Over the 70 years Singleton has not only produced a long line of great players but has also seen a number of imports come to town and stamp their mark on the field.
To recognise the performance of players, all members of the Old Boys were given the opportunity to nominate their best team from three different eras, 1942 to 1971; 1972 to 1996 and 1997 to 2016.
Players with the most amount of votes from each era will be named in the team and players with the most overall votes will be named in the Singleton ‘best ever’ Top Dogs.
While the Old Boys believe that this process is the fairest way, it is also understands that with so many good players having pulled on the boots for Singleton, there will be lively debate over the final selections. The ball will also be a revival of the old days, when the ‘Red and White Ball’ was a highlight of the Rugby League season.
Anyone who has had a connection with the club over the years is encouraged to attend and celebrate what is a great country Rugby League club. For further details please feel free to contact:- Neil Hassett – 0409 827 782;Nigel Papworth– 0419 571634; Donna Clout – 0402 610685
