The proposed site for the new development is owned by Peter and Di Crawford and Cardiff Holdings Pty Ltd and is said to be in a flood hazard zone.
Plans to build a service station involve the demolition of the existing single story dwelling and the construction of the highway service centre at 1,3 and 5 Bridgman Road, Dunolly. In addition to the service station the plans include a takeaway food and drink premises and two ancillary shops.
Singleton Council's General Manager, Jason Linnane said the application was renotified to the adjoining residents as per the original notification of the development application.
“The re-notification was triggered by the submission of a flood study by the applicant,” he said.
“The flood study, in addition to an independent review of the study commissioned by Singleton Council, is available to be viewed on Singleton Council’s website under DA Tracking.”
Previously commenting on the DA, Singleton resident and self-employed town planner Jan Fallding said the application should be refused on the flood issues alone.
Singleton Council requested an independent review of the Flood Impact Assessment prepared for the proponent by BMT WBM.
In the review written by Opus International Consultants it says the development is located within a floodway.
“Floodplain Risk Management Study adopted by Singleton Council indicates that the proposed development is located within high hazard floodways,” the review states.
“Therefore , based on the Floodplain Risk management Study, and Council’ adoption of the study, the proposed development (commercial building) is not suitable in its current location.”
Submissions on the proposed plans will close this Friday, March 3 and residents are encouraged to submit feedback on the project.
Any resident that did not receive the re-notification letter in regards to the proposal can contact Council to discuss options to make a submission.
More information on making a submission can be found on the Singleton Council website.
