The bull is the first calf from one of the school’s Murray Grey heifers they purchased last year using money they have won from their successful cattle club.
However it was no all smooth sailing for the mother and baby in the ‘birthing suite’ with some outside assistance required to ensure a live birth.
Being a big fella the calf had to be pulled into the world with muscles provided by ag teacher Col Barker and Year 12 student Linden Shepherd.
Guidance and the fixing of the obstetrics chains was performed by Upper Hunter Fairfax journalist Louise Nichols.
This is her third successful delivery at St Caths – just another part of the life of a rural journalist she said.
