Following the closure of the Singleton Hospital’s helipad on March 7 due to safety concerns the Singleton Argus was told the Westpac Rescue Service (WRHS) service, when called to make a patient retrieval from the hospital, would be landing on the Rugby Club oval.

However this arrangement, which apparently the rugby club was unaware of, will now not take place.
While the assessment of the future operation of the hospital’s helipad is being finalised the WRHS will most likely be landing in Howe Park.
Dr Ron Manning, NSW Ambulance Executive Director Health Emergency and Aeromedical Services said the landing site at the Singleton Hospital will be temporarily closed while further assessments and work is undertaken. Following consultation with Singleton Council, NSW Ambulance identified a number of potential local landing sites. An interim landing location is Howe Park while discussions are being finalised with the local Council. Once the alternate site is finalised, local paramedics will be consulted regarding the necessary helicopter reception arrangements.
