It doesn’t matter if you’re a parent with a child enrolled at SHS or a community member interested in learning more about topics of mental health and wellbeing – you are invited.
It will be held at Singleton High School Library from 5:30pm- 7:30pm.
Batyr Forum’s offers a range of perspectives on the topics of mental health and wellbeing of young people from a variety of experts and speakers.
Through a young “lived experience” speaker and a Q&A session, participants will walk away with a greater understanding of mental health and how they can improve the wellbeing of their children while at school.
The program discusses how the participants can approach a conversation with their teen or child, including what works and what doesn’t work from a young person’s perspective.
Participants will hear from a keynote speaker- a professional in the mental health space who shares their experience and research.
This presentation touches on the spectrum of mental health, issues facing society and what solutions are available to encourage helpseeking rates in young people.
Finally, the program focuses on the services and resources that are available for young people and how they can be utilised to support the whole family.
“We are opening this forum to all community members, not just parents of students, because mental health and wellbeing issues effects everyone,” head teacher of wellbeing, Kathleen Ballard.
Afternoon tea will be provided by the SHS Hospitality Department and childcare will also be available to those who require it. Bookings are essential since spaces will be limited.
Singleton High School would like to thank the generosity of the following organisations that have partnered with us to offer this forum in Singleton:
