The STTGC Chairperson Lyn MacBain said “while numbers of entries were down in some categories it was great to see the overall support for the competition despite the extreme weather conditions”.
The judge expressed their amazement at the diversity of gardens and how well the gardens were presented noting that the recent rain had worked its magic but made their job just that much harder.
The night culminated with Elizabeth Gates Village announced as the Grand Champion Garden 2017 and representatives Ruth and Kathy could not have been more surprized as the Trophy was presented.
Mrs MacBain thanked the gardeners for their entries and the sponsors and supporters for without them this community event would not be possible: The Singleton Argus, Anonymous, L.J.Hooker Singleton, Singleton Council, Singleton Lions, Hunter Valley Rubber, D & L Chainsaw, Singleton Bulk Landscaping Supplies, Kirkwood’s Produce, Mike’s Auto, Cervos, Rose Point Cinema and Mechanics Institute Singleton.
CHAMPION GARDEN Elizabeth Gates Village .
Judges comments. Good use of roses, perennials, succulents. All spaces used. Well mulched plants in excellent condition and shows good use of sustainable practices. It is such a welcoming garden. Personal touches add to its atmosphere. A myriad of spaces with different aspects of gardens are very pleasing to the eye and senses. All areas are different and well maintained. Garden spaces give a sense of peace and tranquillity. This garden is obviously loved by residents, staff and visitors.
